Consulting in its traditional
form is often seen as a big and expensive commitment but with modern
communications this is not necessarily the case. We can work out a schedule of distance activities, communicating by email, conferencing, forums, ftp, PDF, telephone, and video; and I can bill by the hour. We avoid travel and accommodation expenses of course. Teleconsulting is particularly effective when the brief has a technical focus. Face-to-face meetings are still necessary, but up to two thirds of consulting effort can be delivered in this cheaper and more effective way. |
